Closer Look: Snowy Rabbit Tuck Ribbon JSK by Metamorphose Temps de Fille

Good afternoon everyone!

Today I want to take a little time to highlight some of the beautiful details in this fairly-recent Metamorphose release! I have been pining for one of these kimono-inspired pieces from Meta since I took the plunge into lolita fashion – the bold colors, traditional motifs, and unique cuts struck a very powerful chord with me, which comes as no surprise considering the fact that my first Jfashion-related hobby was collecting kimono.

The tassels are a little unkempt from shipping, but they relaxed after they had some time to air out!

I purchased this JSK on preorder during the second production run, and while the wait was brutal I’m happy to say it was well worth it!

Like most other wa lolita releases by Metamorphose, I was immediately attracted to the colorway with the coolest color palette. This series is fairly unique in this regard because the primary base color is green instead of blue…but because there is still a lot of navy featured in the overall design, it’s not difficult to imagine coordinating it to emphasize either color. I also look forward to styling this piece with a lot of red items, because the contrast in this particular colorway is one of my favorite things about this print.

The bows with the beads and tassels are detachable - I wish they were on small alligator clips though, I want to put them in my hair!

The gold stamps have a little bit of glitter in them, not unlike other Metamorphose and Crown Label pieces I have owned in the past.

Meta did a great job of making the real bunnies stand out against the snow bunnies, without sacrificing cuteness!

Another really interesting thing about this JSK is that it comes with four waist ties! One pair is made from the jewel-toned printed fabric and the other is made from the solid green fabric used as a complimenting color elsewhere on the JSK. Since all four can be worn at once, this creates a unique opportunity to add some extra interest to the back of a coordinate (which is an area I admittedly tend to neglect in my own looks).

My first coordinate with Snowy Rabbit was overall very tame, partially because I wanted the dress to speak for itself and partially because I haven’t purchased much to wear with it yet. I’m glad I waited to start buying accessories for this piece because the colors aren’t exactly what I was expecting…and unfortunately most of the navy or emerald items I own are just different enough that I’m not comfortable wearing them with this print. However, I think the most difficult coordinating challenge for me will be matching accessories to the muted mint green; I don’t think it’s a color I should use in large amounts for several reasons (washing me out probably being #1), but I really hope to come across some small bows or beaded jewelry to match this color someday. Even so, I am not disappointed in the unusual colors because they’re what drew me to this piece in the first place…and as you guys know, I’m always up for a challenge (。•̀ᴗ-)✧

Until next time!
